Kim Delaney is an American actor who is most well-known as the character the role of Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she won an Emmy Award. Her most well-known role is her part on All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives. Delaney, the only daughter of an United Auto Workers senior executive and a domestic worker, was raised with her four brothers and sisters. She dreamed of being a reporter for the court in her early years, but began modeling in high school and eventually gaining commercials when she moved from New York. In 1981, she appeared as a naive teen in the film All My Children. Delaney appeared in a number of TV movies, film as well as dramas in the years since. She has not had a successful or happy personal life. The talented actress struggled to overcome alcoholism and had two marriages fall apart. Her custody in 2005 was confiscated from her.
